CorKnot Lowers Infection Rates
A recent study published in The European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery has shown that CorKnot is associated with lower infection rates compared to traditional hand-tied sutures.
CorKnot was developed to bring precision, reliability, and consistency to cardiac suture fixation.
Study Highlights:
Evaluated 1405 patients who had automated titanium fasters or hand tied knots by three surgical access types
Analysis showed a significantly lower risk of infective endocarditis during follow-up in the automated titanium fastener group
In addition to reducing aortic cross-clamp, cardiopulmonary bypass times, rates of prolonged ventilator support, and valvular regurgitation (2021 Systematic Review), this new research shows its impact on reducing infections and reinventions.
